Strain Management

The need for building and maintaining immense strains collections is premised on a technological screening era where a truly high throughput functional and determinative analysis of the microbial community were not yet available.

At Ascus, we invest significant time and resources in building and characterizing internally curated strain collections but generally only focus on maintaining deep collections for organisms of interest as supported by our proprietary technology platform only. As any microbiologist will attest, Cultivation is hard and expensive and we leverage the insights provided to us by our proprietary platform to reduce our exposure to this capital intensive microbiology pipeline. Cultivation is a very key practice at Ascus – but we work hard to keep it focused and managed.
